Review: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie

Fiber is good, right? It keeps you working right. But cookies are good too, right? Unfortunately, cookies don’t help regulate your bowels.

Until now.

That is a cookie. But not just any cookie. It’s the Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chip Cookie. And it contains 5 grams of fiber to help you stay on schedule.

OK, too much talk about bowels, but it’s just inevitable in a Fiber One post, let’s be honest here. But that’s not the most important point, by far. The biggest question is, is this really enough like a cookie to be worth eating?

Short answer: Yes, in my opinion. But then I like all things chocolate and even remotely cookie-ish. It’s basically like your store-bought soft-baked cookie. Maybe not as sweet as something that contains more sugar and fat and calories, but it is pretty darn good. You could put ice cream on top and nobody would be any wiser. It has a brownie-like consistency, though it’s not gooey; it’s moist but not overly so. It looks like something you’d get from Little Debbie or Tastycake, and honestly (although I haven’t had either of those in years), I’d say it’s at least as good. And better than those bags of mini cookies you get from the vending machine (think Famous Amos), since I don’t like crunchy chocolate chip cookies.

The only problem is they’re too small. I mean, look at that thing. It
’s swimming on my napkin!
I could eat an entire box in one sitting. No joke. But Fiber One has helpfully individually wrapped them, so it’s a bit easier to take just one. Unlike the cookie jar.

Taste: 9--it’s pretty much a store-bought chocolate chip cookie.
Texture: 5--brownie-ish without all the goo of calorie-laden bakery treats; soft and fairly moist.
Health: 8--look, most people are going to be subbing this for a real chocolate chip cookie, so I’m not going to be too hard on it about sugar or fat. The fiber is another added bonus.
Eat Again? Yes, in fact I already finished the box...time to go back to Walmart!
