Thanks for stopping by! I'm Sam, a perpetually injured semi-runner trying to balance college, work, and horses while enjoying life. I will graduate from Penn State University next spring with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Math.

This will be my eighth year with the love of my life, Sydney (left), who helped me through middle and high school and now enjoys frequent breaks from riding while I mend. The adorable little guy below is Peter, the pony I won in a raffle, who just turned four in March.

When I'm not riding, programming, or pursuing personal fitness goals, I love to bake--mostly desserts. Cookies. Brownies. The occasional peanut butter item (I try to refrain from too much of these since I'm the only one who eats them...and I don't trust myself with a whole batch of PB Blossoms). Hersheys.com has some killer recipes.

I started this blog almost a year ago to help myself track my progress through a painful bout of plantar fasciitis. It really helped me to remember what worked and what didn't so that I could collaborate with my physical therapist and finally get better.

Since then I have gone through two simultaneous heel fractures and a sacral fracture on both sides (the latter being the courtesy of the above adorable pony).

I have struggled with eating disorders for years and have only just begun to understand the importance of treating myself well. After years of being underweight, exercising obsessively, and recently going into a huge downward spiral in my senior year of college that left me looking skeletal and ready to keel over, I have embraced recovery using the guidelines at Your Eatopia, which has been a lifesaver. If you're interested in my whole story since choosing to change, you can use the Battling ED tab at the top of the page...or, if you're just interested in my "full recovery" since starting MinnieMaud guidelines, I've started another blog, Full Speed Ahead, dedicated solely to that part of recovery.

I moved to North Carolina in June 2013 to start my job at IBM after graduation. I'm still exploring the area, settling in, and of course find the best places to shop for food! So far I love it...where else can you find a mall where the Vitamin Shoppe is literally RIGHT next to a Sweet Frog?

Above all, this blog is a place where I can reflect on things I see, hear, read, do...and, of course, eat!
